Friday is Wear your Golden Hill Gear Day OR your Patriots Gear!!
District Wide Anti-Bullying Campaign
This year, all schools will be launching “Hillies: Stand Up, Speak Up,” as a district wide anti-bullying campaign focused on building respectful, courageous, and caring students and citizens. Today, we gave a brief message to students about being kind to each other and being a good friend. We will continue with these conversations and activities with students over the course of the school year!
ALICE Information
Today, we began a conversation with students about ALICE – as we have done in previous years. The letters ALICE stand for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter and Evacuate:
● Alert – inform people of the threat, giving as much information as possible.
● Lockdown – Students and staff can choose to lockdown and barricade the room that they are in if they determine that it is not safe to evacuate.
● Inform – pass on as much information as possible to others and to First Responders, including calling 911.
● Counter – an effort of last resort, if an armed intruder is able to get into the space they are in, individuals can counter with distraction or other tactics. Staff are being trained to use every effort to stop the intruder, instead of relying on the traditional lockdown and hide response.
● Evacuate – If it is safe to do so, all are encouraged to evacuate the building, and remove themselves from the threat.
We want our students to be prepared for everything, including if an unsafe person were to enter our school. Administrators, staff, and teachers will and have taken the principles and tactics taught in the ALICE training to present the information in non-fearful, empowering ways. We consider children’s developmental readiness to ensure that students feel safe and have opportunities to talk about their feelings and reactions. All learning is staff-directed and student-centered. If you have specific questions, please contact the school.

Attendance
Student attendance matters!! We need students at school EVERY day. It is important for not only academics, but social skills and a sense of belonging to our school community. Please make sure your child is at school every day. Students will be earning “brag tags” at the end of each month for being at school every day. The goal is to collect 10 brag tags for the 10 months they are in school. We need your kiddos here with us!!

Please send your student's money (if check, payable to Golden Hill PTO) in a labeled baggie or envelope and write the amount clearly on the outside.
Friendly reminder: PTO is not responsible for lost/misplaced money or shared purchases. Every purchase makes a difference! School Store funds help pay for field-trip busing, assemblies, educational supplements & MORE!
